I re-watched today a classic Shell Wonderful World of Golf Match between Ben Hogan and Sam Snead on my new 40-inch Sony Bravia LCD. What a classic match ...and to see it on a big screen TV was a real treat. The match originally aired on February 21st, 1965. I was in the 8th grade then just beginning an interest in golf. Sam Snead could really master a big pivot....but precision was Ben's game. Neither looked like great putters but the greens may have been funky that day. Hard to tell from this match the move that VJ's recent book discusses..it just looks in slow motion that their shaft's almost freeze at the top of their swings as their lower body movement begins the downswing pivot transition. I have never seen anyone teach or discuss the movement that Ben demonstrates at the end of the match...of keeping the upper body/arms nearly still as the lower body pivots.
hg, It is in the book,
In 8-6,
"This Section starts when the Backstroke motion of the Hands ends, and continues through a static period of alignment and relationship corrections, until a deliberate aiming of the Lag Pressure Point[6-E].Study 6-D-0.The hands must have time to define and visualize the section 6 requirements in 12-3 before start down-the"start down waggle" [3-F-5]"
I can't remember which video it was, but I do remember seeing Lynn talking to Brian Gay about this. It is also something that Lynn has me do as part of my routine every time I see him.I can still hear him on the range at Falcons' Fire, whilst looking at someone six stations down 'Neil, give me a start down waggle!"
in hulls free vids, LBJH3 vid, at about 9:25 and beyond is a discussion and demo of start down waggle. You might be correct about another vid, it has been discussed before.
