Nice Quote
Came across this quote today...anyone care to guess who's (hint: it's not 12p)

"Golf is happiness,
It's intoxication without the hangover,
It's stimulation without the pills,
It's price is high yet its rewards are richer,
Some say it's a boy's pastime yet it builds men,
It cleans the mind & rejuvenates the body,
It is these things and many more for those of us who know it and love it,
Golf is truly happiness."

It's from anyone that shoots under par?

12 Piece and I will have our own quote up soon for those that shoot 90 or above- and trust me it ain't "golf is happiness"!

The Essence
Under par as the genesis of golfing happiness is a cruel mirage. It is very much like wealth...it generates greater anxiety and worry! To me the key is to soak up EVERY golfing experience regardless of performance. Play with people you know, and occassionaly with a mystery fourth! Play the ball down, count every stroke...or go back to your roots and play matchplay. I always play from the tips, just in case the golfing god (Rupert) smiles on me! If he should happen to grimace I can always say I got caught in the bushes on my backswing...on every hole! Play new courses...study a familiar one with every measuring device available. Please...get an official handicap...and dare to wage a wager (quarter skins at the very least!) And THE most important thing...play the hell up...51/2 , 5 , 41/2 hour...heck 4 hour rounds are for inebriated tree sloths.

Ah yesssss.... and it's a game that's interfered with more than one relationship I've had.... for many of these reasons.

I've quit trying to explain why I love this game to those that don't play it.

But what about those things that burst your bubble???

I was having a nice even par round today until I got to the #8 tee box.

The house next to the box was blaring Shad'e or however her name is spelled and the dude that owns the house had his two labs in the yard barking up a storm. He was flat on his back soaking up rays next to his pool.

Fore Right!!!
Thanks for the double...

If I were czar
I hate carts! I love the sound of my irons clinking together as I walk! Oh yeah...no neoprene iron covers...no 30 foot ball retrievers...no luminous green balls...I miss metal spikes...no frikkin' cell phones...don't mark your ball with a tee...or a manhole cover...dude, you got 288...lay up! If you mark another 12 inch putt I'm gonna hurt you!

More realism

Golf Gloves and New Clubs and fresh Balls for Swinging,
Direction and Divots say New Clubs are fitting,
Old clubs in storage tied tightly with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When Tee shots make Golf Balls get lost in deep grasses,
Good Wedge shots and Putting give Drivers free passes,
Sun Glasses and Golf carts help find my Lost Balls,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the Ball Hooks,
When the Tee breaks,
When the Drive goes mad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

The On-Plane Right Forearm is matter of fact,
Swivel to Startup and Swivel to Impact,
Left Wrist and Hinging and good Shots they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains confused brain it’s not easygoing,
Bruised Hands are swelling and Blisters are growing,
All this gets better and starts over each Spring,
That’s how I remember my favorite things.

When the joints ache, when the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

I couldn't help it.
