What is not to like? I'm all for anything that will help the group in front of me play faster. Within a group it is just another option to level the field. I would rather give tee yards than strokes.

Oh, so many reasons.
"Play the ball as it lies, play the course as you find it, and if you cannot do either, do what is fair."
Merion PA, 1950, That iconic 1 iron from the fairway on the 458 yard 18th.
At one time I might have objected to the concept. Then reality hit me. Long before I became a short knocker, I was challenged to move forward and post a score. Oops, my score wasn't any better for the most part. I heard where a College coach has his players play from the shortest tees and can't move back till they approach par, he uses it team member selection.
Now of recent, our group who has a number of seniors who are past 80, were to the point even playing from the senior tees they didn't have the length to reach the greens in reg. We made a rule for them to play the ladies. They have once again found joy in playing and we have even had a couple players return that had quit cause it wasn't much fun.
I find that most golfer's play from the wrong tees and those who would move up might even pick up on how to manage their game better. My rule of thumb is if you are not breaking 80 then you probably need to move at least one tee box.

He is 76 and in very good shape hitting the ball like a Hockey slap shot despite my showing him the flying wedges which he uses only for chips. Anyway, the 12.5 degree vacuum packed driver got him thrown off the senior tees as he has started to put his chips together with his longish drives. He plays in a Stableford type system with a point for pars, and 2 for birdies. So he often exceeds his totals!
Great fun! Great game!

Great points Martee. Why shouldn't everybody play where they have the most fun? It's just a game, and we need to attract more players, and keep the ones we have!

I could be wrong. I have been before, and will be again.
I listened to an interesting explanation of Tee It Forward from Barney Adams. Essentially, he said the average pro approach to a par 4 is with an 8 iron. Barney said that would be the basis of TIF with, of course, a few variations throughout the course due to varying lengths of holes, etc. But why should some of us be playing from tees where we are constantly reaching for fairway woods and hybrids or worse, 3 shot par 4's. Move up and have some fun.
Making birdies is fun. Hard to make birdies with a 5wd second shot on a par 4. I am soon 56. See you on the whites!
I played Pinehurst No 8 in Aug from 6700 yds. WTF! It was a senior tournament! I had 79 yds into a par five-for my fourth. (Made par). Wore my butt out.
