We spent 8 hours on Sunday taking Humpty Dumpty apart and putting him back together again, and we're both very excited to hit the range and the course and put our two new swings to work. I took copious notes about what we learned in that full day session, and I'd be happy to share, but I'm not sure they'll help anyone but us. Spending all that time with Lynn made me realize that so much of TGM is about context, just as Homer Kelly said, and I paraphrase: "Not everything in this book will be useful to you, but everything will be useful to somebody" or something like that. I have fixed in my head the image of Lynn imitating my lunging, jerky OTT startdown move, and understanding now why I do it and how I correct it. And I suppose that this next part belongs in the Testimonials Section, but really, the 12 hours we spent with Lynn were unparalleled in my golf experience. I feel first of all as if I made a great friend, and that's a feeling to never be underestimated. Of course, the pure golf instruction was first rate, and I now feel that all of my golf goals are attainable. Never felt that before. And as far as the Yellow Book goes, I feel as if I was working on a puzzle, or making my way through a tricky level on a video game, and Lynn gave me a critical piece, so now the rest of the puzzle/level can fall into place. That's how I now look at the Yellow Book: I can read through it with real understanding, not guessing about what this part means, how the other part fits into the whole, whether this or another section relates to me. I can, and intend to, read it with a real context. I feel as if my study of the Book WILL yield results, amplified by all of Lynn's great guidance. Rain washed out our last 4 hour session. I was disappointed, but now I'm happy, knowing that I have an excuse to go back to Cuscowilla in great weather, play a beautiful course, and have 4 more great hours with the gracious and masterful Lynn Blake. Quitesure is a modest guy. He's analytical, yet at the same time, athletic. And, he enjoys helping others, as evidenced by his recent posts detailing his lesson experience. What he is not is an egotist interested in 'tooting his own horn'. That's why he deliberately omitted a minor detail that I thought you all would find important, relevant, and inspirational. Namely . . . At the end of both our sessions together, he was absolutely KILLING the ball! His weak, left-to-right "dying quail" fades/slices (and even the occasional shank) had been replaced by strong, high draws. Even his formerly despised hybrid, which one recent playing partner suggested that he break over his knee, was sending shot after shot streaking towards his target. This 'rest of the story' will probably embarrass Ron. But, as Jack Nicklaus used to say, "If you've done it, it ain't bragging". And, brother, let me tell you, he worked hard, did everything I asked him to do, flat out changed his swing, and as a result, dramatically improved his golf shots. As you can see, I'm quite proud of Quitesure. We accomplished our mission in the teaching bays -- rain can't reach us there! -- and he'll soon return to Cuscowilla to take it to the course. I can hardly wait! __________________ Yoda Yoda View Public Profile Send a private message to Yoda Visit Yoda's homepage! Find all posts by Yoda
