interesting thought
in this age of i need it now..it's interesting to note that it's been over three months since our workshop in socal and we are still working at the pieces ;) ..most people would have given up 2 months ago...the solid foundation has been poured and the framing continues:p is it the message or the messenger ...it's both:cool:

Continuous Improvement
Quote:
Blind struggles result in circular paths that usually net out with zero to negative improvement over the long haul. Some get lucky and figure out the the imperatives over time, but that's such a long process. I see it every time I'm on the range. A huge percentage of people have no idea what they are working on, but they are grooving something! 3-F-2 The greatest factor for improvement is proper and perceptive practice procedures. None of us are getting any younger. So why waste time and money on any other form of instruction? ;) Here's what Homer has to say to us in the Preface- It's not instant perfection but continuous progress toward a practical goal - master of the STAR SYSTEM TRIAD: the Three Imperatives (2-0) applying the Three Functions (1-L-A/B/C) through the Three Stations (12-3) - which should be sought. As you apply this System you many suddenly realize you are now actually doing what you thought you were doing. First use of this system might be to understand your present game before you abandon, replace or scramble it. It may not be all that bad. At least it's familiar. Besides, habits can be harder to break than to reshuffle a little. This book may point up why you don't play better but also why you play as well as you do. See 1-H and 14-0. Does it all seem as if it would just "take too long?" What if you had worked out one step each week - or each month - or for the last two years? Or the last five years? How about the next two? Or five? At the very worst it's the guided struggle versus the blind struggle. Bagger |
