used golf clubs
Hi,
I wonder if someone could list a few good www sites where I can find and buy "second hand" golf clubs? I know that ebay is good but I guess there are lots of other sites as well. Thanks, Hans |
Are there not any other sites than ebay where I can find "used" golf clubs???
|
Used clubs
Are you looking for something in particular? I have always repaired, bought and sold.

Thanks bambam.
RickPinewild: I will never be a scratch player so I need forgiving clubs. At the same time I don't want clubs with "giant" club heads or to much offset. Probably Calaway's "tour" clubs, X-18 X-20 are a good choice for me. |
used
I just bought a set of Hogan Apex from Callaway Outlet. Certified pre-owned........

Awareness of sweetspot via PP3 is what TGM is about... maybe a greater awareness of sweetspot comes from using blades not shovels... If your clubhead has a higher MOI...is the player less aware off sweetspot?? NB - just thoughts rather than specific question to you Hans... but if you are iinterested enough in G.O.L.F. and golf to hang out on this website and have never tried blades...then you are missing a trick...give them a try. |
No, the reason why I'm not a scratch player is becuase I started playing golf 4 years ago at an age of 35. So I will never be a scratch player, if I can be a 5 hcp player I will be glad. :)
"Awareness of sweetspot via PP3 is what TGM is about... maybe a greater awareness of sweetspot comes from using blades not shovels..." Why are so many PGA tour proffessionals using "shovels" then?:laughing9 Actually I had a set of mizuno MP-33 clubs a year ago and these are really nice clubs. The problem was when I tried the longer irons 3-5. |
Used clubs
The only thing I have right now are a used set of KZG forged cavity back irons with senior flex shafts. 5 - SW

When Nick Faldo was with Mizuno he supported a line of junior clubs which were blades... no longer available....but then society like burgers and fries and not veg and fruit...so do not let Joe Public mislead you!! MP-33 are OK....but Mizunos older clubs were better! Good luck! try the wilson forged progressives...2nd hand and great blades in 7-wedge...small cavity in 3-6....soft feel and cheap! |
The reason you won't be a scratch golfer is because that's what you have in your head. I'm not close to scratch, but I'm about 90% sure I'm gonna do it. Even if I don't, it gives me something to strive for and I can say I tried my best.
Sorry, just had to say it. |
golfbulldog: you said that mizuno blades before mp-33 are better.
Are there any special blades that you can recomend? |
Quote:
Also TP19 ( very pure blade) but often quite a bit more expensive than TP9. Good luck. |
Have anyone tried the Mizuno GRAD P-Forged clubs? I can get a set of these very cheap but are they good?
|
Shifting Irons
Does anyone else playing where winter snows fly, start the spring playing cavity backs and begin substituting in blades as summer approaches? I try to have all blades in the bag by June 1, and start subtituting the cavity backs starting in October. Actually, mine is a 3 step process, moving from deep cavity backs to my Hogan Apex forged cavity backs and then to my Hogan blades. Mis-hitting blades in March or November stings more than this old body wants to take.

Pincher Creek! My favourite uncle was from there. Notice the "u" in favourite, eh? Im a cold weather player myself and can relate but given the site we are on Id recommend sticking with the same clubs and giving more thought to your "pressure points" and how they feel. Properly executed and firmly held your blades are good no matter what the temperature. But believe me I know the ring. The worst is that near freezing , windy day that gets your hands wet. Forget the club face its the hands that matter. In this regard and most others. O.B. Left from Toronto (but dont hate me I love the Stamps. Leafs rule however, Iginla is good, wish he was in blue and white) |

thanks for the tips on Mizunos.
I have been looking for a set or two and wasn't sure which ones to go for. Recently I have picked up the following from ebay: Wilson Staff Dynapower Hogan Bounce Soles Slazenger Pinehursts I already have a couple of Wilson Staff Persimmon drivers and one wilson staff persimmon 3 wood. I love playing with the old clubs, much more demanding of your ability to strike the ball well. I am getting all those old sets re shafted at the momet as they have regular shafts and I need stiffer ones. |

Its actually "Brewers Retail" if you wish to be perfectly accurate. And take a cab so you can cash your pogie cheque on the way too, eh? If I wasnt totally pissed on Molson's right now Id say something mean back at you. Gidday |
Canadian Way Eh
Easy there OB - we don't want our cousins to the south to lose their impression of the GWN as the home of politeness. Actually I'm an old southern Ontario boy who learned to play in the wind on the shores of Lake Erie (comes in handy in Pincher). Now over 50, I wake wondering what will hurt each day, so I'll stick with switching into the blades as the temps warm. The frost bite in my left ear is testament to my attempts to extend the season. Other than that - No more "Hey guys watch this" foolishness for me. I like having cold weather equipment.

That's some strange brew...

I didn't know Brewers Retail by that name; a quick google search revealed it's the same thing as one of my all-time favorites: "The Beer Store"! <img height="200" src="http://www.awesomeology.com/wp-content/2007/12/potomolsongolden_large.jpeg" /> Not sure if they still do this, but last time I went to one of these in Toronto, my beer order came out of the back room on a conveyor belt...loved it (I'm easily amused). Growing up near Detroit, I can assure you that The Beer Store(s) in Windsor were very popular destinations for Michiganders under the age of 21! :D |
Oh Canada!

Yup, still got the conveyor belt and the guy on the microphone barking orders to his buddy in the back in the cool room, "Two four of five Oh", "party pack of Molson" etc. All sort of like a Soviet style distribution center or something. If you think this is funny you should have seen the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) stores twenty five years ago. A small governmental like store, no advertising, no shelves or displays, you'd fill out a paper check list and hand it to a cashier who'd hand it to a clerk who'd go in the back and bring out your paper bagged order. Like you were buying illicit pharmaceuticals in east germany in the 1960's or something. O.B. |

Agreed. Ill could line things up. Toronto area in May or June maybe? Who's in? O.B. |
Timing
Hey - I'd love to commit but my trip back to the land of trees and people has to coincide with a nephews birthday. I'm sure it's in the May, June window but he don't golf so I will have no influence over his timing. Maybe his intended golfs - I'll have to make some discrete inquiries.

Let us know when you nephew figures out when his birthday is.......hey how many Calgary Exports has he had , eh? Let me know your avails and Ill arrange the details around it. Dont want Yoda to meet the black flies of June in the Muskoka Lakes, stunningly beautiful though they are. We could stay nearer to Toronto and avoid em if its June we pick. O.B. |
Pending Nups
Thanks OB - You'll know prit-near soon as I do.

Mental Error
Sorry OB - it's his wedding not birthday - freudian slip showing! Never post late at nite.

Thanks for the tip. I have got my hands on a set of TP 9s on your advice. £65 including postage so a pretty good deal I reckon. They have regular shafts in them now but I am looking at a set of rifle 6.0s to go in them for £50. I am hoping they will become my main club in play for 2009 once I have the lofts & lies all set up the way I want. Ideally I want to get them spined as well and am looking at a tool easily found on ebay. If anyone is familiar with said tool and can vouch or otherwise for it I'd appreciate it. :salut: |
