The "mighty" 64*

Why?
Because I was stuck indoors in the middle of winter then. I have a 64* and have practiced (read FOOLED AROUND WITH) this club. It is difficult.
BUT
This is a great practice club. The hands MUST have a lead, the right arm must remain available, the right shoulder must come down plane, I must have squared the clubface etc. Miss one small detail and the ball goes straight up or like a bullet forward or straight right or somewhere over your left shoulder. This club will not only let you practice fundamentals but will REQUIRE them. Everyone should have one. Not to take on the course, because you will bend it around a tree sooner than later but to move balls from on your own little patch of grass. Many, Many balls.

I was a little surprised that no one responded to that topic. It is one of the most important clubs in my bag. Very few things in golf is more satisfactory than a soft lander that stops right by the flag. Again and again and again. On those rounds I feel like I can par anything but lost balls and lake balls.

The only reason I don't carry a 64* is that I would have to throw out something that I need regularly.

I use my 60* a lot - around the green, in the bunker and from 75 yards and in.

As far as practice is conserned: It is a really good flip discloser and I guess the 64* is even better. It feeds off to the long game and lowers the score - all in one operation.

Phil sure likes his 64.

I have a Vokey 60 with the M grind from several years back. Well I have about 4 of them, on my last one actually and the grooves are starting to go. (Anyone ever had a club re chromed?) With the heal ground off you can open it up really nicely , even for tighter lies and get the hands low if you want to shallow out the angle of attack. So I dont need the 64 really. It isnt as good maybe as I have to cook something up swing wise with a cut shot but I wouldnt have a clue what club to take out of the bag to get a 64 in there.

Our man Lynn Blake can make a 56 do just about anything you could ever imagine or need for that matter.

What clubs did Phil leave out of the bag at the Masters? Four wedges a driver and what else?
