TGM takeaway and setup questions
im a little confused on what TGM's take is on the takeaway. I bought TGM book online and im just waiting for it to get here, but untill then all i have to go off of is these videos and forums...im hearing alot about the right forarm takeaway...it says that you just move your right forarm, and that takes care of the bigger muscles like the shoulders and hips...this goes against traditional teachings in that the bigger muscules move the arms...Is this correct, that TGM says the right forarm controls the backswing, cause i dont think that is efficient...?
Also, watching the free vids on here, i caught a jist of how to setup to the ball, but it didnt really understand it...i got that no matter the shot, you always set the ball at inside of left foot (then just adjust right foot width) but then, you 1st place your right foot down, then the club, then the left foot...my question is where do u put ur right foot/ left foot in relation to the ball, or is there a certain angle u want to come into the ball...and why is THIS way of setting up better than others, thanks |
Helping Hands
Your Start Up is always three demensional: Back, Up and In. Depending upon which Plane Angle you choose to use as well as any Plane Shift(s), there will be a blending of Right Forearm Fanning, Pickup and Pivot Motion all under the guidance of Educated Hands.
When the Hands know where they need to go, the Pivot and the Right Forearm will take them there. The key is do they know where to go? Monitoring the Hands gives presidence to Geometry over Physics; Hand Control Pivot. But it is your choice if you want to use Pivot Control Hands have at it. When you get the book, check out Chapter 5. In the mean time, drop a golf ball on the ground and bend over to pick it up. Your Hands knew where they need to go to pick up the ball and the Body responded by turning, bending, etc. The Body didn't fling the Hands down to pickup the golf ball. Check out Chapter 9 a well, Body Control is Zone #1; The Pivot, Arms are Zone #2 and Hands Zone #3 and must be developed in sequence and #3 can never be better than its Zone #1 and #2 support. |
Foot Notes
Ball position should be relative to the Plane Line and Low Point of the Stroke. It can be worked into a Routine as it relates to the feet, but never at the expense of the first two.
