Tiger's Driver Practice

After Tiger made bogey on 17 and 18 during Saturday's round, he stormed over to the range to work out his driver. I thought it would be fun to watch, so I followed. He had an interesting drill he was doing under the watchful eye of Hank Haney where he would tee up two balls about 4 or 5 inches apart, then using very light lag pressure he would literally drive the first one into the ground. The ball would hit the ground about 10-20 yards out then roll out about 150 yards. He then immediately stepped up and hit the next ball normally.

What do you think he was trying to feel or work on with this drill?

Tiger

I heard through "private" channels, that on the first ball he was trying to understand what it is like to be 12 Piece Bucket. The second one - what it is like to be Tiger Woods. My channels could be mixed up but that's what I heard.:violent:

I remember him talking about this drill at the grand slam of golf champions clinic. He'd try to hit every club in his bag 150 yards with a full swing. I think it's a sequencing drill, but don't quote me on that.

Teeing up

Hey, when you have an administrator of the forum "Teeing it up"- there is an obligation- a duty - to "Hit it"! Or "Swing at it"! Your Choice.:eyes:

P.S. If you didn't know - BamBam - is in the dog pound, in the house, on our side- if you know what I mean:wink: The "Bucket Brigade" is a very small contingency!:(

Please Bucket - don't respond to this post! I don't want to have to escalate this war into a more intensified attack.

I won't be posting for the next 24 hours as I'll be down at Home Depot gathering some supplies- you know WD-40, etc.

With the alignments Tiger has now, specifically his weaker left hand grip, he must have exact Rhythm and/or 'do' something in the downswing to ensure a square clubface. If he tries to go at full power, free wheeling it, he'll go right every time.

In a nutshell, his flying wedges are out of alignment and he has to compensate 'manually'. He needs to take his grip at impact fix.

A tribute to his outstanding hand/eye coordination that he can still be on the top of the leader boards with that approach. It can be useful for improved clubface/distance control on shorter shots however.

The full swing/short distance drill is a great one for Rhythm, especially for swingers.

Eldrick's Wedges are screwed up at what point in the motion? I thought his alignments at the Top anyway looked great on the cover of GD this month. IMO he's got an over-acceleration issue on the righties?

Mikey . . . you KNOW you can't get in Home De-Pot after what you did with that grout and the PVC pipes.

You need to calm down. You know how your rash flares up when you get "emotional." I put that Barney tape you love in the 8 track player for you this morning. Go in there and rock a little bit. It's going to be OK little buddy.
