Pros and TGM players
 

Can anyone give me an idea of what Tour pros are being taught by TGM-related coaches? Since becoming a regular on this site, I have started following Gay, Williamson and Riegger. I think Pressell is coached by Martin Hall. There has been some discussion of Annika's relationship to TGM through her coach.

I would like to follow the TGM-coached pros and am trying to make a list.

Kenny Perry, Shaun Micheel, Zinger, J.B. Holmes are seeing Matt Killeen.

Any of Mike Holder's former players have had some exposure...Scott Verplank, Charles Howell, etc.

Any of Puggy Blackmon's former players have some knowledge, or have been influenced some... Stewart Cink, David Duval, Larry Mize, etc.

George Kelnhofer G.S.E.D. has worked with a number of tour players...men and women

Ben Doyle has worked with several tour players... including Johnny Miller and Bobby Clampett

Ron Gring... has worked with several

David Orr... has worked with several, including Neal Lancaster

Tom Tomasello worked with several... including Jodie Mudd and Sally Little

Tom Ness works with some tour players

Chuck Cook... works, and has worked with several tour players, including Payne Stewart

Mac O'Grady... worked with Homer Kelley

Lynn Blake... currently is working with some tour players... Brian Gay, John Reigger, and Jay Williamson

Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett... have some TGM knowledge

I think a list can be misleading. I'm sure Cook didn't give any instruction to Payne Stewart. Payne's dad made sure nobody messed with his son's stroke. Not evry PGA instructor with an AI teaches bible TGM.

Gring worked with Durant and Faxon. Faxon left and I believe came back. Pros tend to go from instructor to instructor.

Holder who went to the same Master class with Lynn Blake coached Howell III, Verplank and others.

Homer had many Tour players stop by his house at one time or another.

Doyle worked with Elkington and of course Clampett. I'm sure like Homer many have stopped by his cart to see what the lowdown is all about.

Lynn works with Gay, Riegger, Williamson, Kraft, Lancaster and others. More importantly, big time top 50 instructors have been calling the Swamp to see Yoda.

Mark Blackburn works with Heath Slocum and Boo Weekly.

Rob Noel has taught Brian Watts, Grant Waite and others.

Chuck Evans work with Waite, Craig Perks (won the players with that chip shot one year at TCP).

David Orr has worked with Neal Lancaster for many years and a bunch of college players with big time games.

O'Grady of course learned from Homer and taught many, like Orr, Bennett and Plummer, who now teach so many Tour guys.

Bennett and Plummer, who knows a LOT of TGM, have worked with Dean Wilson, Will MacKenzie, Tim Herron and Badds, etc.

So is every AI, pure TGM? No.
Steeped in Imperatives? Big Time.
Understands the difference between illusion and science. Yup.

This list doesn't even cover Australia or Europe.

I know Chuck Cook... he was Payne's teacher for several years. He may not have taught him with terms from TGM(may have), but a teacher doesn't necessarily have to use the terms with a player, to get results. Payne could definately play. He is still missed.

I have no problem with that Lagster, but I do know that Payne's dad wanted someone to mentor his son and not someone to alter his golf swing. Cook did work his short game. Who did Payne see about Putting?

Cook and Ness get buried in Golf Digest. They are just two on a short list of instructors worth getting the magazine for.

Spent about two hours today at the TOUR Championship with Mike Bender and his student, 2007 Masters Champ Zach Johnson. Mike is a celebrated player and instructor in his own right http://www.mikebender.com/Instructor...ab3db3b5e.html and has spent more than a little time with such TGM luminaries as -- in alphabetical order -- Ben Doyle, Chuck Evans and Mac O'Grady.

With Zach applying the principles, we talked a lot of golf...but very little Golf Machine. For practicing professionals trained in its basics, TGM is accepted as an underlying 'operating system.' Like Microsoft's Windows or Apple's Macintosh, it is just there, and it is upon that platform that we build our applications.

I think you are right about that 6bmike. I've heard Chuck say that Payne wanted Chuck to help him, but Payne "did not want to change his swing".
Chuck kind of had to sneak things in there to help Payne. Payne was a "ball flight" guy. He liked to work the ball on nearly every shot. Very, very talented player.

Not sure about the putting. He was a good putter.
