Fluid Balance
I just wanted to post a reminder for everyone to address their fluid intake as we move into spring and summer weather. There is a great post that pluthb started in mid March and titled Water Intake. I would encourage everyone to read thru the posts. I don't want to consolidate and repost because I found the development of the individual posts to be fascinating.
Trigolt, a triathelete, posts some fabulous suggestions and I think we can all respect the authority he has gained thru his physical experiences. Be well and be hydrated. Vickie |
...and on an interesting note, there was a story on last nights news warning that drinking too much water is more dangerous than too little. Mainly targeted towards endurance athletes but interesting anyway.
This is the first link i found to the article http://press.arrivenet.com/spo/article.php/184021.html |
You really have to overdo it to take in too much water. Basically if you drink at a normal human pace throughout the day you'll be completely in the clear. A gallon a day is nothing.
In that article it said somebody drank 3 liters before a race, and more in the early stages or something. That's like a gallon in and hour or two possibly, which could be problematic. But for the rest of us, you really need not worry about water intoxication. As long as you're not sitting at your desk slamming it like no tomorrow, everything will be fine. |
I understand that. I did point out the article was more related to endurance athletes and i'm sure golfers don't fit into that category :) I just thought it was an intersting read.

Rare, but it happens

I think we are safe from this on the golf course! :) Most people walk around everyday life dehydrated. |
