Reynolds Plantation Resort In A Pickle

We all know that the economy has been slow of late.

And, that the golf resort community has not been immune.

Now, this sad news from Reynolds Plantation, a wonderful complex of golf courses and amenities just up the road from us:

Meanwhile, it's business as usual at Cuscowilla.

Has our resort felt the slow times? Of course.

Has the downturn threatened our existence?

No.

Why?

We have no debt.

It's a good thing.

Glad to hear Cuscowilla is safe and sound. Its such a special place, a little gem. Crenshaw designed a timeless masterpiece there amidst the cabins and quaint facilities.

Georgia is one heck of a place for building golf courses.......the track just down the road a bit is kinda popular come spring and the azaleas too , come to think of it.

John,

I'm in Wednesday evening after two warm weeks in Florida. Teaching solid through Sunday -- Groups in from Nebraska and Atlanta. The weather's "iffy" -- maybe cold! -- Thursday and Friday, but our beautiful enclosed Teaching Center makes it all a non-issue. http://www.cuscowilla.com/golfacademy.php

Will call!

Orlando.

The PGA had a couple of things going on . . .

First, its bi-annual Teaching and Coaching Summit. Then, its PGA Merchandise Show (the third largest trade show in the United States.)

I presented at the one, attended the other, and taught all the next week at the Faldo Institute.

Now, I'm back in the frigid Northland that is metro Atlanta!

B-r-r-r . . .

But, here at Cuscowilla, it's less so. We're always 5-7 degrees warmer than Atlanta!

Today (Feb 9, 2011), it was 53 degrees. Sunday, it's scheduled to be 63 degrees.

Tomorrow, a big cold snap's coming to interrupt for a couple of days.

No matter. I've got a great teaching facility. We open the bay doors to watch the balls streak to the sky. All the while enjoying the protective warmth within.

When things get really tough, we're indoors in a terrific learning environment. The 'big screen' Hi-Def TV makes my PowerPoint presentations come alive, and the coffee pot is always fresh. We even have a comfy, wood-burning fireplace to ease the pain and comfort the soul.

April cometh.

Speaking of no debt, Lynn, and a happy April to be had by all, I am now leading our fine spelling team in training for our Feb 22nd district Bee. (Look, Mr. B, I can spell with my ears closed!) We also needed a computer teacher on Saturdays  , and a Cooking Club mentor. Of Course the First Tee program will begin in May to help me save up for the 30th college reunion and Wild Minnesota early June Extravaganza and the Hershey, end of June, volunteer days!

I will not rust out, I promise!
