You're doing such a good job of working on it in that video Air , you cant be too confused about it!

For more info on compression see Chapter 2 , the diagrams of 2-C and contrast Three Dimensional Impact ( with Horizontal Hinging) with the three forms of Steering. I suspect that like most people your earlier outside /inside stroke and associated compression loss was a reflection of one of golf's common "seems as if's" ......(it should work but it doesnt) ....Steering namely.

The linear logic of the pool shot with its inline pool cue does not translate to golf given the golf club's: lie angle (Inclined Plane of motion) , hooked face (Hinge Action) and its resulting circular (Angular) Motion. Golf as Homer noted being a 'Hinge Action of an Angular Motion on an Inclined Plane". In fact the more linear you get it ........the more you produce what Homer termed "the cut shot" see diagram 2-C something or other (sorry dont have my book with me). Then compare that diagram to Steering again.
