Hi fellow TGM'ers.
I'm planning to go to the GSEB Level 1 course January 24 - 27 in Orlando. On the same trip I'll cover the PGA-show for a danish golfmagazine.
I'll bing my family, wife and 2 kids (7 & 4). They want to spend the days I'm occupied with the golf in DisneyWorld etc.
Do any of you have hotel recommendations or better, connections to houses for rent in the area somewhat close to Disney? We are on a reasonable budget, so not looking for anything luxurious, but sure it wood be nice with a pool, but it's not a must.
We're planning to stay from around January 20. to February 2.
Any advice is welcome, also on what golfcouses to play (one ore two)
Falcons Fire is a still a good course to play and close to the Disney area. It is in Kissimee on Rte 192. I lived in Orlando but it was a few years back. Much has changed since then, so when I visit a get turned around a lot.
As for hotels there are many. Your best bet is to do an internet search. I would recommend something with a kitchenette. It will definitely cut down on the food costs. You will want to try some of the restaurant though. There is something to satisfy anyones palate. I wish I could recommend something, but everything changes so frequently there.
You may want to look into finding a timeshare. There are a lot and some are quite reasonable and have many and various amenities.
Try to fit a trip to Sea World in. A great park for all ages. Bring your walking shoes ALL the parks are huge and there is a lot of standing around as well. I personally prefer Universal Studios over Disneys' MGM Studio. Both are nice and both have great rides. Universal is more of a working studio and you learn a little more about movie magic there.
One last tip about the parks go EARLY lines are long. Most people when they enter the parks and turn RIGHT. Turn LEFT it will save you from standing too long in lines during the first part of your visit.
. . . it wood be nice with a pool, but it's not a must.
We're planning to stay from around January 20. to February 2.
Unless the pool is heated, bring your wet suits. Orlando's got decent weather in January -- definitely warmer than Copenhagen -- but it's no Palm Beach!

We're Vikings you know, used to chop a hole in the ice for the daily bath...
naaa catch your drift, I think the January weather in Orlando is like a poor summer in Copenhagen.
Lynn, do you know if Tiger checks in on LBG, with his new house being build in Jupiter, he's Orlando residence might be available in the end of January
Just returned from Disney with my family. We always stay on property since it is so convenient in terms of free transportation. We stayed at Pop Century, which is one of the economy-priced resorts. It's better than the other All-Star resorts since it has its own dedicated bus service to the parks. BTW, I didn't dip in the hotel's pools (they have three), but I was told they are heated. Saw a bunch of people on 50-degree nights taking a swim.
Be sure to get to Hollywood Studios early in the day to get a FastPass for the new Toy Story ride. Lots of fun for the kids (and me too). Enjoy your trip.
Look at the websites for Allstar Vacation homes or Aplus vacation homes. Nice homes, any size, usually with pool and jacuzzi close to Disney.
Golf courses: Agree with the Falcon's Fire recommendation. Also: Orange County National (two great courses), Celebration, Metro West, are all great tracks.
