Swinger vs Hitter: Does It Really Matter?
I don't think I am either a swinger or a hitter (I know it should be one or the other). After reading The Impact Zone my only swing thought now is keeping my hands ahead of the club head through impact, which I never did before. I don't feel I am pushing or pulling. Does it really matter?

Thanks!

Hi DefCon,

Welcome to the forum!

Only if it's important to you. I spent a day watching and listening to YODA last summer and I don't know if we even discussed it, and it never came up on the lesson tee.

Where I believe it's important is simply during the learning process, discovering what accumulators you are allowed to use, and when to use them. I have a really bad left shoulder, I have a lot of trouble pulling with that side of my body. I was always taught the swing was to be powered by pulling with the left side, that the right side was a bad thing.

Learning TGM, all of a sudden finding out about the concept of pushing with the right side opened up a whole new world for me. I'm now a HITTER, proud of it, and don't really care that some folks say there is no such thing. I'll just keep enjoying my fantasy world...

Kevin

Thanks, Kevin. I was experimenting today and think I lean more towards hitting, i.e., feeling the crook of my right index finger and keeping that ahead of the club head. You're right though, whatever works!
