My distance from ball / posture: what do you think?
Dear members,

Looking for some more expert feedback on my distance from the ball and posture, this is a 9 iron. I am making some decent contact/compression but when I look at myself on video my legs look so stiff, not enough knee bend? Maybe I should stand back a little bit more from the ball. I'm 6 ft. tall. Your thoughts are welcome specifically about my set up posture/distance from ball but I welcome any other comments on my swing. Thanks for any comments in advance I apologize for the poor quality of the video.

Turned Should Plane. That's rare. Good for you.

Distance from the ball isn't your problem. Your pivot is non-existent. Compare your Impact alignments in Frame #4 to Frame #9 below.

Are you pulling down with your hands from the Top?? Your standing Up at impact and Your Facing the Ball and your shoulders have caught up to your hips and your hands are about to pass your shoulders. No Pivot Lag. You have a great right arm and Hand acceleration. It's keeping you alive. If you can fix that pivot, then you can use the #4 accumulator and you'll drive the ball 300 yards. That 6 iron should be your 185 yard club. But with only 1.5 Accumulators, it's your 155 club.

Also, if you stop that Shoulder turn take-away, your hands and right elbow will get higher at the top so when your pivot gets fixed, your Pitched Elbow will pitched at release and not at your side as shown in frames 2,3 and 4 above.

Daryl - I really appreciate you taking such a close look, for your time breaking it down like this!

Could not agree more I've got my work cut out for me to work on Zone 1. Especially during the downswing, release and follow through.

Are you pulling down with your hands from the Top?? Yes I think I am. For me I like the STT because I think it helps me to stress the shaft in the backswing but I understand your points.

Again I can't thank you enough for your close reading of my alignments (and lack of!). I'm going to focus on my pivot.

Watch your video . . . . look at that pole thingie that is right next to your butt when you start swinging . . . watch what your but does . . . then look at the pics Daryl put up . . . look at Mr. Hogan's butt (as I'm sure Daryl does daily ) . . . Do you see any differences? If so what do you think the implications are?

Nice stuff Daryl

I like his free wheeling right hip and right shoulder turn away together, takeaway. Something Lynn teaches. His pivot is working nicely to Top I think. I wouldnt change that but I'd add some on plane Tracing with his Right hand to get one end of the club or the other pointing at the Plane Line. When done properly it'll be like Indian Chief's "how" or Oath of office, (triple "o" move) with the right forearm fanning and elbow bending to pick the hands and club UP. "how". The elbow supporting directly opposite the #3 Pressure Point at Top. Its different for swingers and hitters........

Maybe add a touch of Extensor Action too. Need some structure in the hands er clamps. Dont like the Horizontal motion, left wrist arching in the waggle. Ideally its a Vertical only Motion for the left wrist's cock and uncock, no horizontal arching. Arching begets Bending (throwaway). Why rehearse something you dont want like left wrist arching in the waggle.

So get more on plane (club shaft) , no arching in the left wrist (club face) should help you to add more Lag (club head). Thats the entire golf club, shaft, face, head. If you control the club , you control the ball. Or something like that.

Bird, you are really regretting asking for help I bet. There's more nuts around here than there is over at Planter's.

Hilarious. No not at all I can't thank you guys enough, I agree with you as you said in previous post getting to top I might be sound (could work on some precision as you pointed out). It's my transition and the rest coming down and through follow through I need to work on via Zone 1 to start with. Thank you so much for your time and taking a look! You guys have given me some things to think about and work on this week, much appreciated as I've been in a bit of "despair" recently.

Bucket you're right. Yeah I see major differences. I'm swaying and as Daryl pointed out I'm standing up out of my posture at impact so I'm losing my swing center and my balance as well, hips moving out which throws alot of alignments off. Thanks for pointing that out!!
