Is this any use - weedcutter
I was having some light reading with my Harvey Penick book and came accross "The Weed Cutter"

Infact it will only take me a min to type it out so ....

The Weed Cutter - Harvey Pennick

Of all the thousands of swing-training aids and gimmicks I have seen, the best is one you can buy at the hardware store if you don't already have it in your garage or toolshed.

It is the common weed cutter.

Many years ago Victor East, th genus behind Spalding clubs, send six weed cutters to me and six to Wild Bill Mehlhorn, who was teaching at a club in Florida.

A few weks later Mehlhorn sent his weed cutters back to Victor with a note that said, "These things are ruining my business. Students who use them don't need me anymore."

The motion you make lopping off dandelions with your weed cutter is the perfect action of swinging a golf club through the hitting area.

Furthermore, the weed cutter is heavy and builds golf muscles.

While you are swinging the weed cutter, pretend you are being paid by the hour, not by the job. In other words take your time.

Is this a good training aid for swingers ?

Interesting. Tryed to google weed cutter but no real light in the tunnel. Is it the same as a scythe?
A picture would be nice.

Thanks for the link, mb6606. The grass trimmer (product no. 62010 with the 30" handle, not the 14") is more like what Mehlhorn used, not the weed cutter. http://www.uniontools.com/product.asp?Cid=8at=28

And Amen Corner's link is a good one, too. Apparently Bobby Shave has a 'signature' product for sale. http://www.mehlhorngolf.com/products...grasswhip.html I'll call him, get the pricing and see if we can't work out a discount for interested LBG members.

Mehlhorn Products Now Discounted To LBG Members
I talked with Bobby Shave today. He is as excited about helping golfers as he has always been, and it was fun renewing our friendship (see post #39 here http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/forum/s...=bill+mehlhorn ).

I first learned of Bill Mehlhorn and his teachings through Bobby's book in August of 1990 and have been an advocate ever since. I have only now learned there is video available of Bill demonstrating his system, and to help me help my students, I today ordered the videos/book combination package http://mehlhorngolf.com/products/bookdvds.html.

Also, I ordered Bobby's custom Mehlhorn's Grass Whip swing aid. http:/dent /mehlhorngolf.com/product...grasswhip.html . For those who may think that the 'Grass Whip' Approach is just a gimmick, I respectfully remind them that, in addition to Harvey Penick's ringing endorsement in his Little Red Book, http://www.amazon.com/Harvey-PenickS.../dp/0671759922 Hale Irwin's father taught him to play using exactly that. In fact, that aspect of Hale's early training was featured in a Golf Digest cover article some many moons ago.

Finally, I am pleased to say that Mehlhorn Golf products are now available to LBG members at a 20 percent discount. Just drop Bobby a line at info@mehlhorngolf.com, tell him which products you want and that you're a friend of Lynn Blake Golf. That will do it.

Thanks Lynn,
I got out in the yard today swinging my weedcutter, first with a split grip, then with both hands together. What a great feeling to transfer to a golf ball. It gave me the same sensations that I get when following Jeff Hulls instruction from the video series. I would like to know Jeff's impression of this training device.

I ordered the book/video combo a couple of months ago as I am slowly building a little collection of golf -related books, etc. Actually first heard of Mr. Melhorn on this site. Spoke with Mr. Shave briefly, and he was VERY enthusiastic about Mr. Melhorn's teachings. The book is quite interesting, as is the video. The tape was made outside and apparently on the approach to the Miami airport---lots of jet noise at times but the message comes through!
And Mr. Shave is a very trusting individual---he sent me the products the day I ordered them, prior to even receiving my check! Would love to read what Yoda and all of you fellow "machiners" think.

dcg,

I hope you did receive the 2 videos. One explaining the concepts and the other with Mehlhorn outside Miami airport.

Bobby's associate lives here in Sweden. The first time I heard about it was actually a couple of days before hearing Lynn's presentation to PGA of Sweden.

As Lynn has mentioned in another thread about Mehlhorn, the drills explained in the book are very usefull . You easilly get the understanding for how the pivot and arms work together.

This July I got the grasswhip, and boy, it works!

Amazing when you read how many people Menlhorn did help, some names might surprise you.

In addition, Davis Love Junior also demo the grass whip in the old Golf Digest instruction video: How to hit your long iron. You tube soon….
