Wasn't exactly sure where to post this but . . .
I'd like to tell y'all about my GolfTec experience . . . First of all I want to clarify that this is NOT PROMOTING THEIR JUNK OR INSTRUCTION OR WHATEVER.

My buddy who's pretty into golf but hasn't achieved my golf nerd status or even close went to the golftec thingie. He trys everything. I coulda fixed him a lot cheaper but whatever. Anyway he tells me about how awesome the lesson was. I asked him about it . . . not so much from my perspective. But what I was interested in was the techology.

They got one of them vest jobbies that they strap to you and measure all the angles etc. and this sweet camera system.

So they were running a special "evaluation" for $25. So I plop down the $25 to see what it's all about. The instructor was fairly knowledgeable in a "pop instruction" sort of way. I played like I was a moron (which I'm REALLY good at). Didn't give him a clue that I knew anything. He told me some stuff that was fine whatever. But that wasn't why I was there . . .

I wanted to see their set up. The have this awesome camera system deal where you can see what you are doing from two angles and have IMMEDIATE play back and draw plane lines and crap. So after listening to the dude try to fix me they tried to send me on my merry way. But I kinda hound-dawged around and the dude let me stay in the bay and practice for about an hour and a half.

Boys . . . . THAT IS THE WAY TO PRACTICE IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR MOTION. They have monitor right there where you can look at the ball and see the screen. Then they have these big ole buttons that you can push with your club to freeze frame and reverse step forward etc. It was GREAT. I think the set up was like $50,000 or something. But that probably includes the stupid vest deal. But that camera system and the playback deal was GREAT.

It was cool because I knew what I needed to fix but on the range you can't see it. So I was able to experiment with different feels/swing thoughts to change the motion. Really really cool way to practice. I feel like if I had access to one of those deals I could really improve my motion quickly.

Great report Bucket. I can understand how the technology would help someone as knowledgeable as you to improve. Too bad they don't have your knowledge.

Of course, ya need a place to put that stuff. The price of technology has really come down. I've looked into it in detail.

I dunno bucket, vest jobbie? Sounds technical!!

lol!

Seriously though, is there a risk of look, look, looking too much at the monitor?

Yeah . . . . when a dude straps a black vest on you with little sensor thingies . . . I'm just waiting for that rope with the black apple in the middle that goes in your mouth and the banjo to get fired up. Needless to say I was a little nervous . . . lotsa women in prison movies start out like that.

Not sure about what you mean by "risk" . . . but I thought it was great to have pretty much immediate feedback on your motion and validating that feel ain't real and what you have to do to make the pictures change.

don't get me wrong, I like the idea of it. Its called the K-vest right?

Just wouldn't like to get too reliant on it personally. No doubt would have had just as much fun for 90 minutes though!

Maybe too much sorcery for me in the end. Speaking of which, you ever see that Harry Potter film? If you ask me it was just unbelievable. I mean, a ginger with two friends?
