A helpful visual for me is seeing the 'tripod' in my minds eye.
The legs of the tripod are your two legs, and a line from under your chin to the ground between your feet (but towards the plane line). Due to the forward lean from the hips (your head being closer to the plane line than the centers of your feet) - you can imagine a triangle between these points 'on the ground', as the points the legs would touch.
Thus, the 'tripod'. A full 3-D visual of a pyramid with its tip under your chin. I find an added benefit of this visual is that it also helps me maintain my spine angle.
Very useful for quieting down extra motion for those that are flexible enough to make a good turn and be very 'stable' - especially useful for hitters IMO.
Of course there is always my dad's visual he told me when I was a kid (for the men anyway) - imagine a string tied around your private parts that goes straight down into the ground - don't hurt yourself!

For those of you who haven't seen it. Ted will put a half full water bottle on top of his head at address and then hit the ball, while keeping the water bottle balanced on his head to follow through. It's great fun. I enjoyed presenting it to my level 2 class in Port St. Lucie for the PGA of America. No questions as to whether my head was stationary or not, and they didn't even send me home for using TGM.
By the way it gets harder with the driver still toying with that shot with the water bottle, but Ted can do it.

This works so well for me. Huge difference. It was tough at first but definately quiets things down.
Was just reading through this thread - not really that interested - but I did think of one thing that might be good if you're working on this. Since the ball is "so far" away- and the closer something is to your sight the better you can see if you're moving- what about having a string about a foot long with a ball or something hanging from the string- and you holding the string in your mouth as you swing. It probably would really show you if your head moves at all.
Oh by the way - please visit my website- I'm selling a foot long string attached to a golf ball for $24.95 each + shipping! Look it up under "head movement detector".
One thing that has worked very well for me and some of my students is to get a small mirror such as a women's make-up mirror or one that can stand. Position it outside the ball so you can see your face in it at fix. Because the mirror is close to the ball you can actually hit balls while looking in the mirror. I have a mirror that sells for $89.95 and if you buy today you get a bottle of water and length of rope complete with a ball tied to the end for FREE!
