What about pure "hitting" using 10-5-E? Can you effectively open the stance and still Drive crossline using the angle of approach? If one is to use a Closed-Open stance during "hitting" is it necessary to play the ball farther back to avoid running out of right arm?
I'm hitting setting up at Impact Fix w/an Open stance, Open hips and shoulders, in otherwords hips and shoulders parallel w/stance. Should I be preturning, clearing my hips at takeaway?
Please excuse for asking this again, I am still not sure about using open stance as the ideal stance for hitting. Below is the comment I copied from one of the TGM website (I forgot which one and who make the comment) and is not as suggested in here:
"Using Closed-closed stance: However, when Hitting, you should be using the Closed-Closed Plane Line of 10-5-E. This is the Plane Line visually Covered -- not Traced! -- by the Hitter using the Cross Line Angle of Approach Procedure. Here, unless you are transparent, you must Clear the Right Hip or you will be unable to Cover this Steep Plane Line and properly Fan the Right Forearm."
"Hitters using the Cross Line Angle of Approach Procedure do not visually Trace the Square Plane Line that lies atop the Target Line. Instead, they visually Cover the Closed Plane Line of 10-5-E whose Base Line actually crosses it (2-J-2).
Hitters using the On Line (2-J-3) Arc of Approach Procedure Trace the same Straight Plane Line (the Square Plane Line) as Swingers . "
Could someone give comments and clear the fog? Closed stance, square shoulder or Open stance square or ..
I believe you have the option to use all three stance lines with the angle of approach. However the closed/closed plane/stance line is most compatible. but you have the dilemma of not having a reference to the target. If you elect to use the closed/square option at least your feet are parallel to your target line. If you choose the closed/open relationship it is difficult to cover the angle of approach all the way to low point because you sometimes run out of right arm unless you exagerate the down plane motion of the right forearm. But as Homer says, you have options.
Using a closed stance or square stance, I have problem (not enough) rotating my left arm after impact and the ball goes to the right. I experienced the open stance today, and because of the open stance, my alignment will become: left wrist directly (prependicular) facing the target; open shoulder, left arm straight. Because of this, I guess when I hit, at impact, it is easy for the left arm (wrist) to roll, right arm extended straight to the target line and the ball will go straight.
Is that because I am unable to turn fast, or not flexible enough such that will find diffculty squaring the clubface using square stance?
