My question to you intiated guys here is; Which angle should the right elbow have at the top when hitting? I have personally found that the piston effect of the elbow increases with an angle of more than 90 degrees. I also find it easier to hit from the inside with a more bent elbow. What is recommended?
There is few things that affect it .. but i will explain it this way instead.
if your club follows a flat plane and straight plane line. the elbow will stay more or less close to your body then start to "fly" out if the club shaft hugs the chosen plane.( thats why a plane board, torch is extremely important). If the elbow sticks or close to the body or right elbow over bents, there is a very huge likely hood that its a Curved plane line, and the club head follows a cone presuming that you have extensor action. Applicable regardless of elbow position, hitting or swinging.
Read and understand Impact fix flying wedge. The elbow have to be bent during impact allowing space for straightening after impact or will lose compression and thus a weak flight. Also ead the magic of right forearm 7-3 also .

Many thanks for Your reply Nuke! But my experience is the opposite. It is much more easy to "spear the fish" from a more bent right elbow position, whereas a 90 degree bent right elbow tends to make the spearing a more semicircular one and thereby creating a swing instead of a hit! Am I far out or?

Don't think in terms in degrees - trust me, the answer to that question is purely dependant on many variables such as the dimensions of that particular individuals power package, their flexability, the plane angle (in degrees) shoulder motions...etc to name a few....
Think more about the loading... much more important...
Labrador.. its Physics.. easier because the more u load any accumulator by bending more , it becomes more "powerful".. at the expense of improper alignment and a bent plane.
Once you get the alignments correct and a Flat plane, you won't even break a sweat to get power, but you sound like you got high effort power by hitting harder, then you won't get the alignment. The key to learning tgm is using the same easy 60% effort, you'll hit further and straighter. After getting the alignment it becomes effortless power.. loading is the Easy part of the equation. the hardest part is getting the plane, and the alignment.
Study 1 - L and stick it to your chest. Actually its as simple as that, clubshaft need to be moved on a flat plane and our body adjust according to that Thats the deal.. nothing more or nothing less. Read it till you can memorise it. And if you can... spend 3 days at least with a TGM coach. I can't only spend less than 1 day.
well it took me 4 months before I could appreciate + apply 1 L and 6 H 0 even with some help from TGM coach demonstrating. I could not spend a lot of time with him... so ..Not that I am stupid.. but you remind me of myself when I started, thinking more complicated than it is and not sticking to 1L , 6H0. Wasting more time than necessary.
Start reading the book according to XIV suggested.. then stick to 1L 6H0.. hope my 10 minutes typing save you that fruitless 3 months.
