I think the "by the book" "machine heads" who have really studied the book aren't going to get as much from it as the people who haven't been exposed to TGM. Those people if they read it VERY CAREFULLY will get a whole lot from it, a lot of very good concepts that most golfers aren't familiar with and a truly wonderful golf book.

Good observation...

I wouldn't say that. I would say when you read it, don't read it like TGM, don't try and don't expect TGM preciseness.

As it was said this is about the dynamic of the golf stroke, not a style or variations, though there is some of his style/variation preferrences.

I think it is an excellent book.

I don't think Clampett has misrepresented it necessarily but it is confusing particularly if this is your first exposure to the concept.

Don't get me wrong. There is A LOT in this book to like. I just think that part is a bit foggy.

What do you think about the whole "keep the left wrist cocked as long as you can" thing?

I don't want to poor mouth Clampett. I think he's good for the Machine, good for the game and miles ahead of 98% of the instruction books out there. I'm just trying to be objective.
Thanks 12 piece. Sorry Martee. Not trying to falsely claim Clampett says aim point=low point=4inches. Just trying to understand better. I guess my question was based on a picture in the book where the white line is drawn from the top or end of backswing to a point in front of the ball. Also the picture where he says "yes my eyes are looking in front of the ball" about 4 inches out.

Great Post!

The big task for you would be to reach high point, but I am sure you can do it. Now would you use arc or angle of approach? I would suggest a thrust on a straight line.

Report back your findings!
You know it is really disappointing when a great post- gets no response- it's as if someone wants it to go away. Well, that's not going to happen

AC, I would say the part about "report back your findings"- well, let's just say there are things you don't want to know. What if Bucket has "Throwaway"- we could all be in trouble. Sure - he says that he can maintain lag pressure but what if he can't?!

Oh by the way- with that nose - you would need an arc of approach procedure- Absolutely!

P.S. Consider yourself on the Mike O. Psycho team! Of course, you don't need to admit it publicly.

Mike,

Absolutely right your are. Lets take cover and pray for the best

When thinking of Buckets personal security, I am more concerned if he has Steering and Bobbing at the same time

Bad things could happend!!

On the other hand - we can calmly rely on Compression Leakage, so the damage shouldn´t be that bad.

Martee,

Have you had a look at the Fred Shoemaker books ?

Fred and a few of the team worked with the European Ryder Cup team last year so it seems that what he talks about works in practice.

I understand the way it came about was due to their work with Paul McGinley and Darren Clarke.
