Homer indicated that a hitter would have a firmer grip than a swinger. Check 7-1 it describes the Swingers and Hitters needs or requirements.

One observation, too lose at the start you can introduce wobble to the motion, too tight at the start and you can exceed you capacity and at the top actually become loose or regrip.

Normally the grip pressure started with will increase during the stroke to maintain the initial setting.
