Normally, it is as green as green can be, but our Georgia drought has resulted in stringent watering bans. These test the skills of even the most talented and dedicated turf management folk.
But even now, check out those 50+ grass tees on the far right hand side of the last photo. They are stillgreen, and golfers still hit off grass, not mats (if they so choose).
This past summer, I had the privilege of playing Baltusrol and its wonderful 36 holes. But the practice range and lesson tee are mats. I was stunned.
And suddenly, even more appreciative of our public Swamp and the privilege it affords me to teach this great game of Golf.
