Cameras:
From personal experience, the best that I've ever owned is the Panasonic PV-GS500. It was the last of the pre-HD models, and it was rated the best in it's class. The picture is superb, because of the 3CCD sensor. It's virtually a news camera, in the size of a small camcorder. It has easy to use aperture and the shutter speed goes to 1/8000.

I use the Panasonic Camcorder as well. It is a great Camcorder and has a zoom and wind filter settings for the mic. as well.
