If it is too far back, it will set off a chain reaction of some ugly stuff. If you are using the proper Angled Hinging, you are striking the ball too early in the radius of the swing and your clubface is closed at that point. Then comes the rest.... you do not have enough "room" for the full extension of the left arm radius. The lowpoint is about 3 inches below the ground. Either your left wrist has to breakdown, your left elbow has to bend or (here it comes) you have to turn your left shoulder abruptly or up to pull your arms through. Add it all up, it's a lovely pull hook than runs like a rabbit. I mention this because I've been there, done it, have the T-shirt and the coffee mug. Welcome!, Good Luck, and stay at it!
