The short shot may have a little more wrist cock sooner than say a driver because of the shorter length but generally you shouldn't worry about cocking the left wrist, which by the way is the only wrist that cocks and not to a large degree. You will learn about the magic of the right forearm and the importance of extensor action, these two things ( along with the pivot) will take you to the top and will naturally cock the left wrist as the right arm bends to take the club to the top, even for a short shot, you can experiment with adding more sooner or using no wrist cock at all, part of tgm is the literally trillions of choices you have.
